About the artist: Avery R. Young is a trailblazing Chicago-based creator named the inaugural Chicago Poet Laureate in 2023 and inducted into the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame the same year. Young’s music and theatre work spans multiple media, with two studio albums on FPE Records: booker t. soltreyne: a race rekkid (2013) and tubman. (2019).
