Lollapalooza Spotlight: The Gaslight Anthem
The Gaslight Anthem have gone from being one of rock music’s best kept secrets to gaining praise from (as well as constant comparisons to) one of the genre’s all time greats, Bruce Springsteen. In fact, “The Boss” has joined his fellow New Jersey natives on stage on a few occasions to perform their songs “American Slang” and “The 59 Sound.” With three albums under their belts, The Gaslight Anthem have recently taken another big step as a band and signed to a major label in Mercury Records. In preparation of their 4th studio album, Handwritten, which is set to release in July, The Gaslight Anthem will spend the next few months on tour. With the majority of their scheduled shows set to take place overseas, Chicago’s Lollapalooza is one of the few places fans here in the United States will be able to catch these guys this summer. Be sure to check out the debut single from Handwritten below entitled “45” (released 4/30/12 via Rolling Stone) here.
