Coachella 2012 Lineup and Tickets
After much speculation and rumors flying through the mill we have finally been given a complete lineup for Coachella 2012, and what a lineup it is! This year follows the same general mixture of hip-hop, electronic, and rock bands that never disappoint. Your headliners for the three day festival in Indio are The Black Keys, Radiohead, and Dr.Dre w/ Snoop Dogg. They will be performing in back-to-back weekends as Coachella has expanded itself to a double weekend extravaganza for the first time. You can bet music fans got goosebumps from the sight of the Radiohead and Dre/Snoop combo. Both groups have been relatively quiet in the concert circuit over the last few years.
All three days are stacked with great music. Per usual, they did a wonderful job spreading the talent out across three days, so everyone can get their equal fill of genres. If you are unable to make it out to Indio for the festival you can still catch a few of the acts performing here in sweet home Chicago. (Heck, hopefully some of the Coachella acts will be at Lollapalooza this summer August 3-5.)
The Black Keys will be performing at the United Center on March 19th. Radiohead announced a tour earlier this year, but to my dismay they will not be performing a Chicago date. However, there are two opportunities to catch them in nearby St. Louis or Kansas City if you like.
M83 will perform a much anticipated show at The Vic in May. Something tells me that show may get moved to The Riv due to their rising popularity and high demand on tickets. Andrew Bird will bring his unique sound to The Auditorium Theatre in May as well. If you are an electronic music junkie you can catch Sebastian Ingrosso of Swedish House Mafia perform at Congress Theater with dubstep artist Porter Robinson alongside on February 24th.
If you have the means, head out to Indio for three days of beautiful music and a great atmosphere. If not, you can still get a taste of some of the Coachella artists and other similar sounding live music right at home. Regardless of your choice, be excited for a 2012 that is looking to be another great year for music fans!
