2013 Record: 9-7 The San Diego Chargers were a Kansas City Chiefs made field goal away from missing the 2013 playoffs. Fortunately, Ryan Succop’s kick went wide right and the Chargers were playoff bound. It was head coach Mike McCoy’s first year with the team and the new system was a breath of fresh air for Philip Rivers. Rivers, the NFL’s comeback player of the year, was sensational throughout the year talling 4478 yards and 32 TDs with only 11 INTs. He led the team to a 27-10 victory of the Bengals in the AFC wild card game before the Chargers fell to the Denver Broncos in the divisional playoff round. The Chargers offense, which jumped to number five in the league in 2013, was also led by the dynamic backfield of Ryan Mathews and Danny Woodhead as well as outstanding rookie Keenan Allen. Allen’s presence (1046 yards) was a big reason for the reemergence from Rivers. Rivers and the offense, however, will have to head into the 2014 without their offensive coordinator from last season. Ken Whisenhunt who brought the offense from 31st in the league to 5th moved on to take the head coaching job in Tennessee. If they 2014 Chargers want to be successful they must avoid the let down games. Too many time last season the Chargers did not show up for games they certainly should have won. In an increasingly competitive division the Chargers will have to bring their A game week in and week out. Head to Gold Coast Tickets today to get in on the action!
