2013 Record: 11-5 For the third year in a row the Cincinnati Bengals made the playoffs and for the third year in a row the Bengals lost in the first round. Boasting a top ten regular season offense and defense the Bengals were unable to get by the San Diego Chargers. Despite a productive regular season, Andy Dalton once again struggled in the playoffs. Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Green was a huge reason the Bengals offense ranked eighth in the league. Green is now entering the prime of his career was the third most targeted player in the NFL (1,426 yards and 11 TDs) in 2013. It is scary to think about the numbers he will put up with quarterback Andy Dalton entering his contract year. The Bengals running game was split between veteran BenJarvus Green-Ellis and rookie Giovanni Bernard. Bernard will look to shoulder more of the load come 2014 as he had a more productive year. The Bengals strength cannot be argued. It is their defense. The defense includes the likes of pro bowlers Vontaze Burfict and Geno Atkins. The front office added to that strength by selecting cornerback Darqueze Dennard with the 24th overall pick. Dennard, who played at Michigan State, will help sure up the Bengals secondary right away. The Bengals also added A.J. McCarron in the draft who could see some action in the coming years. Another first round playoff exit could spell the end for both head coach Marvin Lewis and Andy Dalton. With an extremely talented roster look for the Bengals to find themselves back in the playoffs for the fourth year in a row. Will the fourth time be a charm?
