2013 Record: 8-8 Joe Flacco never makes it easy on himself. Fresh off a new contract in 2013, Flacco continued his streaky career with 19 TDs and 22 INTs. However, not all of the blame can be thrown in his direction. His most reliable receiver, Anquan Boldin, was traded to the 49ers and star running back, Ray Rice had his worst season since his rookie year. The Rice struggles are alarming (660 yards). Many looked towards the offensive line to figure out why but the running backs receiving numbers also took a big hit. Tight end Dennis Pitta suffered a season ending injury early on and the offense struggled to adjust without him. It was the Ravens defense they kept them in most games. Once again, ranking in the top half of the NFL, it was the defenses first year in a long time without legendary linebacker Ray Lewis. With Lewis’s absence, Terrell Suggs and Haloti Ngata were each pro bowl selections. The Ravens front office have identified the areas they need to improve in heading into the 2014 season. They bolstered their already solid defense in the draft, adding C.J. Mosley and Timmy Jernigan. Both look to make an instant impact at the NFL level. The biggest acquisition of the offseason, however, came when they signed free agent receiver Steve Smith. Steve Smith along with, bright spot from last year, Torrey Smith will provide a much needed boost for the Ravens offense. New offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak should also give the Ravens a new look. The Ravens open up the 2014 season with two division rival games against the Bengals and Steelers. The defense will need to be solid again but it is the team’s offense that will determine the season. In a competitive AFC North look for the Ravens to jump back into the playoff picture in 2014. Get your tickets to see the Ravens this season with Gold Coast Tickets!
