2013 Record: 45-37 (8th West seed), lost in Conference Quarterfinals to Oklahoma City So the Jeremy Lin signs with Houston and…actually becomes a better player. He put up bigger numbers in New York but became much more efficient in Houston. How? He fixed his biggest problem in turnovers, cutting turnovers significantly. He doesn’t normally light up the scoreboard like in the Linsanity days anymore, but he’s a more than capable point guard capable of distributing the ball to any of the Rockets’ weapons, which all of a sudden they have a lot of. Just a year or so after Kevin Martin and Luis Scola were their best players, the Rockets have built around Lin, James Harden, and some guy named Dwight Howard. Harden was an absolute steal from Oklahoma City who gave him up in a salary dump for basically just Kevin Martin and Jeremy Lamb. Harden (25.9 PPG) was unleashed in Houston and put up huge numbers. Forward Chandler Parsons (15.5 PPG) is developing into a solid regular as well. Howard signs after a dysfunctional year with the Lakers as the league’s premier big man, even though his free throw shooting has remarkably gotten worse than it was before. Also, notice draft pick Isaiah Canaan from Murray State—a standout point guard who could be great behind Lin. The Rockets may have some salary problems in upcoming years as they severely overpaid Omer Asik in a dangerously backloaded contract last summer, but for now they have an awfully strong team that should contend with the best in that tough division. Starting Lin, Harden, Parsons, Howard, and Asik will make them tough to beat. The Houston Rockets represent the city of Houston, Texas in the Southwest Division and Western Conference of the NBA. The Rockets were founded in 1967 as an expansion team for San Diego. In 1971, the Rockets relocated to Houston and started to see success during the mid-70s. In 1976, they acquired Moses Malone and remained dominant for several years. During the mid-80s, the Rockets found success in the “Twin Towers” duo of Hakeem Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson. They won the NBA championship in both the 1994 and 1995 seasons. See the all-new Houston Rockets will Gold Coast Tickets!
