2013 Result: 44-38 (6th East seed), lost in Conference Quarterfinals to Indiana The Hawks are stuck in a rut of mediocrity.  They are consistently playoff contenders but never go far.  They have made the playoffs in six consecutive seasons but haven’t made a Conference Finals appearance in any of them.  In fact, they haven’t made the Conference Finals in any of their last 27 playoff appearances.  They’re looking for a spark to make this an elite team, but unfortunately that might not come this year as they’re bound to lose much production.  Josh Smith (17.5 PPG, 8.4 RPG) signed with Detroit in free agency, Devin Harris is likely to sign with Dallas, Zaza Pachulia signed with Milwaukee, and as of this writing Jeff Teague’s future in Atlanta is unknown.  On the positive side, Al Horford (17.4 PPG, 10.2 RPG) has come into his own as one of the East’s best centers.  Three-point sniper Kyle Korver is back.  They also made some interesting draft moves, taking four players including notable Bucknell center Mike Muscala, German point guard Dennis Schroeder, and Brazilian center Lucas Noguiera.  It seems to be a period of retooling in Atlanta as mainstays like Marvin Williams, Joe Johnson, and Josh Smith are gone in favor of youth.  See the new Atlanta Hawks this winter with Gold Coast Tickets! The Atlanta Hawks represent the city of Atlanta in the Southeast Division and Eastern Conference of the NBA. The Hawks were founded in 1943 as the Buffalo Bisons.  In 1949, they would join the NBA and two years later relocate Milwaukee, becoming simply the Hawks.  In 1955, they would relocate for the 4th in 12 years, this time to St. Louis.  In St. Louis, the Hawks would win their first NBA championship and appear in the NBA Finals four times.  The Hawks have yet to win another NBA championship or appear in another NBA Finals.  The Hawks moved to their current location in Atlanta in 1968.  Become a part of history by getting your tickets to the Atlanta Hawks’ 2013-14 NBA season today!
