This season has looked a bit different for the Phils, who are committing to rebuilding the roster at long last. Some familiar faces can still be found, including Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Cole Hamels, Jonathan Papelbon, and Carlos Ruiz. But contributions have been coming from all over the roster. Early on, shortstop Freddy Galvis was the most consistent threat. But this summer should also feature trials for notable prospects like third baseman Maikel Franco, who returned to the majors with a bang in May. Meanwhile, Aaron Harang began the season on fire in the rotation, actually outpitching ace Cole Hamels. Harang and Hamels could both be dealt midseason for a sizable return in youth prospects for the future. For now, however, going to a game that either of those guys are starting is sure to be a good game. The Phillies play at Citizens Bank Park in South Philly, one of the nicer modern retro ballparks in the league. There are a number of cool things for fans to see, like the swinging Liberty Bell after Phillies home runs, easily accessible bullpens to watch relievers warm up, great food and viewing angles, and a ‘rooftop’ area in center field. Philly fans know sports and they had plenty to root since the opening of this ballpark in 2004. The Phillies won the NL East five consecutive years between 2007 and 2011, winning a title in 2008 and making it to the Series in 2009. That title was just the franchise’s second after their famous 1980 team, but they’re an extremely proud franchise embedded in a great sports town. Get your Phillies tickets from Gold Coast Tickets!
