Expectations are high in Miami for the first time since 2012. But a stumble out of the gate led to dismissal of manager Mike Redmond. In an unprecedented move, GM Dan Jennings slid down to take the manager’s job himself. Luckily for him, he began his managerial career with plenty to work with. Second baseman Dee Gordon began the season on an absolute tear with the bat. Other offseason acquisitions Mike Morse and Martin Prado looked good as well. But the buzz usually surrounds Giancarlo Stanton, who makes national news with nearly every home run for his ridiculous blast distance. Meanwhile the rotation and bullpen has been a bit all over the place, but the return of Jose Fernandez this summer cannot be underestimated. In Fernandez, it’s almost like the Marlins are making a midseason trade for a top five pitcher in MLB. Under the new leadership and behind a stabilizing bullpen and rotation (with Fernandez), watch for the Marlins to play up to their potential. The Miami Marlins play at Marlins Park in the Little Havana neighborhood of Miami. They’re in their fourth season as the rebranded Miami franchise but still looking for their first winning season since 2009. The Marlins have produced a large quantity of talent over their franchise history but are also still looking for consistency in success. Their only two playoff seasons were their championship seasons of 1997 and 2003. But with the second wild card, this could be a year as good as any for the Marlins to sneak into the postseason. The beautiful Marlins Park is also home to some delicious food options. Check out the Taste of Miami ethnic food options or delicious Sir Pizza. In Miami-esque fashion you can even go clubbing during the game if you buy a ticket in the Clevelander beyond the left field fence. Whatever your reason, Marlins Park has something for everyone.
