San Francisco based rock band Third Eye Blind came together in 1993 through the efforts of Stephan Jenkins. Kevin Cadogan, Adrian Burley, and Jason Slater joined Jenkins to fill out the band's original lineup; however, Third Eye Blind lineup has changed several times over the years with Jenkins the sole member remaining from the band's original lineup. Unlike most rock bands formed during the post-grunge phase of the 1990s Third Eye Blind opted to keep some brighter elements in their sound, setting them apart from their peers. In April 1996 Third Eye Blind managed to secure a position as an opening act for Oasis, during which the band was called back for an encore performance after completing their set, an unheard of feat for an opening act. After their knockout performance the band found themselves embroiled in a bidding war as several labels attempted to recruit them. In 1997 the band released their self titled debut studio album, which included some of their most well received hits including "Semi-Charmed Life" and "Jumper." The band followed up their debut with their 1999 effort Blue, but since then they have been known for taking more time between their releases. In 2003 they released Out of the Vein, and it wasn't until 2009 that they released their forth studio album Ursa Major. Third Eye Blind has been working on their fifth and final studio album since 2010, but have split their time between recording and touring with their previous releases. The band's anthemic rock sound is perfectly suited for the stage, where the band is able to engage with their fans while revisiting some of their biggest hits.
