Sleater-Kinney has always been about power. The raw power of their lyrics and their thunderous sound roared its way into the Pacific Northwest during the 1990's and they never looked back. Following the success of their final album, The Woods, the trio announced in 2006 that there would be a hiatus. They have triumphantly returned with a new album, and to touring, and have been met with nothing but sold out crowds and raucous applause. They have not missed a beat or lost a step as their blue collar, working class rhythms and searing vocals have, once again, taken center stage with a passion. Their music is widely known for the force of its revolutionary bent as they raged about everything from America's "war on terror" to rebellion to gay rights. Their first album since 2006 is entitled No Cities to Love and it has not lost any of their former rousing anthem edge. Their comeback picks up right where they left off and the edge is still sharp as they rant and rail about friendship, unleashed consumerism, and the need to rally together. For Sleater-Kinney, the battle continues with the fearsome guitars and the dynamic lyrics that their legions of fans have always come to expect and have sorely missed. As the band was quoted saying in a recent interview; "on stage, we can be ferocious".
