c/o myspace... "In February, I saw a singer whose performance stopped me in my tracks like I haven't been in years. Since then I have been telling the world about him the last few weeks, and the folks in that world of mine are equally impressed. Now I want the rest of the world to know what we do...he's that good. Daniel Wayne's music is simple, original and raw and over the last few months in Brooklyn, this Cincinnati transplant has created a buzz for his sincerity and subtlely powerful performances. There is a simple innocent feel about his music that is undeniably powerful. His material and live shows are sharp. Tight pockets of good playing by his band. Really strong songs. Great voice. Listen to the very show I saw that knocked me out. Headphones and no distractions. At the age of 8 he began writing songs and beats on a Casio keyboard his sister gave him. Growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio, teachers used to complain to his mother that he made weird noises in the classroom. He has always had music in his head and lyrics on his mind. He played trumpet in high school and was once given a failing grade for a music theory class because he refused to recite someone else’s song, opting instead to perform an original. Like Bernie Taupin and Elton John, Van Dyke Parks and Brian Wilson, and countless others, Daniel performs songs written with his collaborator, Oliver Labohn who does not play in the band. As a collaborative team, Oliver and Daniel are a songwriting duo to be reckoned with. The effect of their wonderfully simple and powerfully effective songs are made even more potent by a band who understands subtlety, restraint, a top notch outfit that can play sharp and tight, as well as loose and organic. Daniel's band mates, Ben Campbell on bass, Jon Hildenstein on guitar, and Brent "Killer Bee" Follis on drums provide the perfect amount of shade and color to this canvas. It is strongly recommended that you see what is going on here." -Doug DeFalco" Read more on Last.fm.
