After a botched robbery for former carousel barker Billy Bigelow goes horribly awry, he is later given a second chance to make amends with loved ones, including the daughter he never got to know. Created by the legendary team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II back in 1945, Carousel was a follow up to the pair’s first hit musical, Oklahoma! Based on the play Liliom by Ferenc Molnar, Carousel’s somewhat darker subject matter was lightened up substantially when Rodgers and Hammerstein adapted the play for the Broadway stage. The duo added a comedic touch to several of the characters as well as numerous lavish musical numbers like “If I Loved You”, “June Is Bustin’ Out All Over” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. Over the years, Carousel has continued to delight audiences worldwide and has the distinction of being named the best musical of the 20th century by Time magazine. Experience the current revival before it’s gone!
