Alkaline Trio is a punk rock trio currently comprised of Matt Skiba on vocals and guitar, Dan Andriano on vocals and bass, and Derek Grant on drums. Skiba founded the band in alongside Rob Doran and Glenn Porter in late 1996, and the trio released their first single "Sundials" in 1997. The band continued to release music, and gained a following with their 1998 debut album Goddamnit! With their punk sound and emo roots the band began to secure a solid fan base. The band captured public attention with their 2001 album, which was supported by the singles "Stupid Kid" and "Private Eye." By 2003 Skiba, Adriano, and Grant were working together on Good Mourning, which soared up the Billboard 200 Albums chart. The trio explored a more pop inspired punk sound on their 2005 Crimson and 2008 Agony & Irony. In 2010 Alkaline Trio released their seventh album This Addiction through their own recording label, and the record signified a return to the band's roots in punk rock after exploring different genres and sounds on previous records. The album was recorded in Chicago, and it was one of the band's best performing album. The very next year the band celebrated their fifteenth anniversary with the release of Damnesia, an acoustic career retrospective. After celebrating the past, Alkaline Trio turned their attention to new music with the release of My Shame is True in 2013.
