TCU had arguably its best season since their 1938 national championship in 2014, winning 11 games and the Chick-fil-A/Peach Bowl. The impressive run was powered by the nation’s second-highest scoring offense behind only conference rival Baylor, and represented the school’s Big 12 breakout in its third season there. They didn’t even qualify for a bowl the year before. Upset that the lack of a conference title game robbed them of a College Football Playoff berth, TCU demolished Ole Miss in their bowl. They again face a steep challenge to get to the Playoff, but QB Trevone Boykin (3,901 pass yards, 707 rush yards, 41 total TDs) won’t be satisfied without it. Boykin enters 2015 as a top NCAA QB and a definite Heisman candidate. His favorite target, Josh Doctson (1,018 rec yards, 11 TDs), and ground game threat, Aaron Green (922 rush yards, 9 TDs) return with room for upside. Four offensive line starters return, so personnel turnover isn’t a concern on offense. The same can’t be said on defense, where notable losses at linebacker and a young secondary are likely to weaken what was the Big 12’s best scoring defense. Give coach Gary Patterson the benefit of the doubt, however, as he’s done this before and is likely to do it again. The TCU Horned Frogs operate under coach Gary Patterson at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth. Now playing in their fourth conference since 2000, TCU is here to stay in the Big 12. They’ve been nationally ranked at some point in 10 consecutive seasons and have won double-digit games 10 times since 2000. All time, they’ve won two national titles (1935 and 1938), 18 conference titles, and have made 30 bowl appearances. The school has sent 169 players to the NFL, including LaDainian Tomlinson, Andy Dalton, Daryl Washington, Jeremy Kerley, and Bob Lilly. Their biggest rivalry, called “The Revivalry”, is with Baylor, with is remarkably even at 51-52-7 all time. They also share rivalries with Texas Tech, Texas, and SMU. 2015 home opponents include SF Austin, SMU, Texas, West Virginia, Kansas, and Baylor.
