Lollapalooza Chile Line-up Announced: Rumors for Chicago’s Festival Circulating
Pack the SPF 30 and brush up on your Spanish. Lollapalooza Chile is set for its debut year in Santiago, Chile April 2-3 in O’Higgins Park. Perry Ferrell, Lollapalooza’s founder and frontman of Jane’s Addiction decided to take the festival international to give a wider fan base the chance to enjoy the festival’s success in the United States.
Ferrell says his “ambition is to plant a very strong seed in Chile. One that will grow over the years, and provide Santiago with an event for the ages.” He added that there is “Chilean talent in the mix” and that he and his promotional partners will return to Chile “to work on the other aspects of the festival” now that the lineup is announced.
Kanye West, Jane’s Addiction and The Killers will headline Lollapalooza Chile and other notable bands include 30 Seconds to Mars, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Deftones and The Flaming Lips (full line-up listed below). Which leads to the question on every Chicago-Lollapalooza attendee’s mind, including myself. Which, if any of these acts will be present at the upcoming Lollapalooza 2011 in Grant Park (August 5-7, Chicago)?
Lollapalooza 2011 in Chicago
Please come, Kanye. I’m begging you.
No one knows for sure, but one popular site that predicts festival line-ups calls for at least two of the Chilean headliners to appear at Lollapalooza 2011 in Chicago. Jane’s Addiction and 30 Seconds to Mars are among the rumored names.
After the release of the most recent and highly-acclaimed Kanye West album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, one can only hope that the Chicago-native will join the headliners in his hometown this August.
After choosing to skip Kanye’s 2008 Lollapalooza performance for Nine Inch Nails, I would not miss another chance to see him perform live. Have you heard his new album (released Nov. 2010)? It received an unprecedented 10/10 review from the hipster-approved Pitchfork.com and 5 stars from RollingStone.com. The album is hot. A ‘Sheena like’ goes out to West and the many artists featured on this impressive album.
We’ll keep you posted on any announcements on Lollapalooza 2011, but in the meantime feel free to salivate over the recently announced Chilean acts (i.e. Yeah Yeah Yeahs and of course, Kanye West).
