2013: 9-4 (6-2 Big Ten); lost Capital One Bowl to South Carolina
The transition to head coach Gary Andersen was a successful one, further affirming Wisconsin’s status as an athletics powerhouse over the last 15 years. The Badgers actually outperformed their record too with a lethal combination of the eighth-best rushing attack behind James White (1,444 yards, 14 touchdowns) and Melvin Gordon (1,609 yards, 12 touchdowns) and the sixth-best scoring defense in the FBS. They lose White, but Corey Clement (8.2 yards per carry, 7 touchdowns) is ready to fill the void. Joel Stave (2,494 yards, 22 touchdowns) had a decent year. But the true test of the offense will be how they replace the receivers, because their top four from last year are gone. Alex Erickson and all of his 127 receiving yards in 2013 is the highest-string receiver remaining from last year. 79-rated recruit wide receivers Natrell Jamerson and Krenwick Sanders should receive playing time during their rookie years.
The Wisconsin Badgers’ football program is based in Madison, Wisconsin. Throughout the years, Wisconsin has won 13 conference titles and is hungry for its first National Championship. Camp Randall Stadium, or simply “the Camp,” is the fourth-oldest stadium in college football. It is located on the south side of one of the Midwest’s most picturesque campuses, UW-Madison lined along Lake Mendota. And at an-NFL sized 80,000+ capacity, Camp Randall is a great place to see a football game. Among Wisconsin’s rivals are Minnesota and Iowa; the Minnesota-Wisconsin rivalry being the most-played rivalry in the country, with over 120 games played since 1890. The Minnesota game is on November 29, but Wisconsin will face an immediate SEC challenge against LSU August 30. That and Nebraska on November 15 are sure to be the biggest home games.
