‘Nova is back at the forefront of college basketball after a couple years off. The Wildcats went 28-3 (16-2 Big East) on the way to their ninth NCAA Tournament appearance in ten years. They were ranked #3 in the nation heading into postseason play after an extremely hot streak during conference play, but the wheels fell off at some point. Villanova was upset by Seton Hall in the first round of the conference tournament, then fell in the Round of 32 to UConn. But in the new, weakened Big East Villanova won their first outright conference title since 1982. Sophomore Josh Hart (7.8 PPG) showed a lot of promise in his first year and big scorers JayVaughn Pinkston (14.1 PPG, 6.1 RPG) and Darrun Hilliard (14.3 PPG) return, giving Villanova the most sure things in its returning players. This was the top rebounding and second-highest scoring team in the conference last season. Look for ‘Nova to dominate the Big East again.
