UIC Flames

UIC has had some dark days over the last four years as they sank to the bottom of the Horizon League.  But last season brought new hope to the program.  After going 23-68 between 2009 and 2012 a 18-16 season was quite refreshing and earned the coach a three-year extension.  A UIC player has not made the NBA since 1996, meaning great players on the UIC squad are more likely to stay instead of skipping years of eligibility.  Gary Talton (12.3 PPG) is back after leading the team in scoring.  In recent years UIC has done a good job collecting talent through transfer players, picking up guys from MAC or even smaller conferences.

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Flames operate under Coach Howard Moore at UIC Pavilion just southwest of downtown Chicago.  They have made the NCAA Tournament three times, not bad for a program that didn’t even play until 1981.  Their most recent appearance was in 2004 with the others coming in 2002 and 1998.  They have yet to win their first game in the Tournament, however.  UIC plays in the Horizon League and has since 2002.  The only UIC player to make it to the NBA was Sherell Ford who played 28 games for the Seattle Supersonics in 1996.  While they don’t have much of a basketball legacy they are playing good basketball and have shown they have what it takes to make the Big Dance.  Get your tickets today from Gold Coast Tickets!
