The Toronto Raptors are based in Toronto, Ontario and are members of the Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division of the NBA. The Raptors were founded in 1993 as part of the NBA’s expansion into Canada. As with most expansion teams, the Raptors struggled during its infancy. That would all change after the 1998 NBA Draft when the Golden State Warriors traded rookie Vince Carter to the Raptors in exchange for Antawn Jamison. Carter would go on to help the team reach the playoffs in 2000, 2001, 2002. The Raptors would go on set league attendance records each of those three years and enjoyed a revitalization of the franchise. The Raptors would boast several other distinguished players after Carter’s departure in 2004, most notably Chris Bosh. The team has been in the process of rebuilding after trading Bosh to the Heat in 2010 and is expected to return to dominance in the upcoming season.
