2013 Record (91-72) Missed playoffs
The 2013 Texas Rangers season ended when they lost a one game playoff to the Tampa Bay Rays. The heartbreaking loss marked the first time the Rangers missed the playoffs since 2009. The manager, Ron Washington, has been with the club since 2007 and taken the club to two World Series. Last year’s team was led by sluggers Adrian Beltre and Ian Kinsler. Kinsler, however, is no longer with the club so the Rangers will have to look elsewhere for some offensive production. Yu Darvish and Derek Holland provided a nice spark at the top of the Rangers pitching rotation as well.
How did the Rangers respond to not making the playoffs? Before the 2014 season they went out and acquired two huge names, Prince Fielder and Shin-Soo-Choo. These two moves along with shoring up the pitching staff look to keep the Rangers in the playoff race throughout the season. After losing two World Series in a row can the Rangers finally claim their first title? Find out this season and catch a ball game at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
