Texas A&M Aggies Football

2013: 9-4 (4-4 SEC); won Chick-fil-A Bowl over Duke

Texas A&M’s athletic department couldn’t have asked for a more attention-grabbing star quarterback.  Whether it was blowing off the Manning football camp, showing up at a UT-Austin frat party, getting caught profiting from autographs, or, god forbid, making tremendous plays on the football field, Johnny Manziel (4,114 passing yards, 37 passing TDs, 759 rushing yards, 9 rushing TDs) was always in the headlines in 2013.  The superstar defined A&M’s first two seasons in the SEC; love him or hate him, A&M wouldn’t have come close to playing that well without him.  They took a step back in 2013, starting at #7 but losing all four regular season games against ranked SEC opponents in #1 Alabama, #24 Auburn, #18 LSU, and #5 Missouri.  Granted three of those four were tough losses were tight, but the unimpressive 4-4 SEC record remains and their only ranked win came in the bowl against upstart Duke.  Manziel’s a Cleveland Brown now, and his top target Mike Evans (1,394 rec yards, 12 TDs) is a Buccaneer.  Which means this will be a hugely transitional season for A&M.

The Texas A&M Aggies operate under head coach Kevin Sumlin at Kyle Field, which holds just over 83,000 fans. They have three national titles, 18 conference titles, and 34 bowl appearances all-time, and rivalries with Arkansas and LSU.  By moving to the SEC, they deactivated their rivalries with Texas and Texas Tech.  While they have often just been above-average (and they played in the Southwest Conference for a long time), A&M has made a bowl in 22 of the last 29 seasons.  The Aggies have had many NFL players throughout the years including Raiders punter Shane Lechler, Bears TE Martellus Bennett, Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill, and Broncos MLB Von Miller.  Gold Coast Tickets does not want you to miss out on the Aggies new talent this year!
