Rutgers Scarlet Knights

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are set to tip off their 2012-2013 college basketball season. Grab the best seats in the house at the Louis Brown Athletic Center, or follow your Scarlet Knights on the road right here at Gold Coast Tickets!

Last season they finished 14-18 under first year head coach Mike Rice. Rice came over from Robert Morris, who actually made the tournament more times than Rutgers, and Robert Morris is a mid-major school. Nevertheless, Rice is set to bring his talents over to Piscataway, New Jersey for his second season. He is convinced he can turn Scarlet Knights basketball around and into a winning program.

This year looks to have serious upside for the Knights as they return their two best players. Freshman Eli Carter will come back for his sophomore season, as he led the Knights in points per game last season. In addition, junior Dane Miller will return, leading the team in rebounds last season. The Knights have not made the NCAA Tournament since 1991, but they were the NIT runner-up in the 2003-2004 season. The 2003-2004 season was Quincy Douby’s freshman season with the Knights. Douby was the best player to ever come through the program, leaving after he broke the single season scoring record his junior year for the NBA Draft. Douby played in the NBA as a shooting guard for the Sacramento Kings for a couple of seasons. The Scarlet Knights play their home games at the beautiful Louis Brown Athletic Center, where there is always a sea of scarlet and black.
