The Pittsburgh Panthers are set to take on their 2012-2013

The Panthers fell short of making it to the NCAA Tournament
this past season with a 22-17 overall record. It was the first time in 10 years
that the Panthers were not present in the Big Dance. However, the Panthers did win the CBI Post
Season Tournament. They defeated Wofford, Princeton, Butler, and then Washington
State for the crown.
This season they will lose senior and leading scorer Ashton
Gibbs to graduation but will bring back the point guard play of Tray Woodall.
In addition, they pick up one of the best recruits in the nation. The Panthers
snag the #5 recruit in the country in center Steven Adams. The Panthers have
not had a true center come along since Aaron Gray. They will also bring guard
James Robinson to the team off of the Rivals Top 150 Board.
The Panthers are coached by Jamie Dixon at the Peterson Events
Center in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. It is
here that the student section, nicknamed the “Oakland Zoo,” gets wilder than
ever for Panther home games. 2009 was
the best season in recent history for the Panthers as they made it all the way
to the Elite 8. They were led by Sam Young and Dejaun Blair, both currently on
NBA rosters. Making it to the Elite 8 was not the teams’ only achievement as
head coach Jamie Dixon was named the Naismith Coach of the Year.
