Forget Dwyane Wade; Marquette basketball is a golden age right now. Eight straight seasons of 20+ wins and NCAA Tournament appearances have seen the Golden Eagles get closer and closer every year. This March the Golden Eagles beat Davidson, Butler, and Miami before losing to Syracuse in the Elite Eight. While they don’t shine in star power they do shine in efficient, unselfish play. Their leading scorer, Vander Blue, only had 14.8 points per game and the next highest was Davante Gardner with only 11.5 PPG. Blue declared for the NBA Draft and wasn’t selected. But there’s little reason for Marquette fans not to be optimistic about this season as four-star recruits JaJuan Johnson, Deonte Burton, and Duane Wilson all will join the team. Marquette should be better than ever this season and could again make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. Don’t miss this season of Marquette basketball!
The Marquette Golden Eagles operate under Coach Buzz Williams at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee. They draw large crowds to see Marquette big names in college basketball such as an all-state showdown with Wisconsin. They won their only national championship in 1977, made the Final Four most recently in 2003, and came within a game of doing again this year. They have made the NCAA Tournament 31 times in their history and won the Big East regular season last season. 34 Marquette players have made the NBA including Jimmy Butler, Wesley Matthews, Wade, Jerome Whitehead, and Maurice Lucas. With Marquette toeing the line of the Final Four games at the big Bradley Center will be very intense and a real college basketball experience.
