Marquette Golden Eagles

The Marquette Golden Eagles are set to kick off their 2012-2013 college basketball season. The Eagles had a decent last season, finishing a respectable 27-8, and an even better 14-4 in the Big East. They came in 2nd in the Big East to Syracuse, but that should not be a surprise and the Orange only lost three games. The Eagles lost their two best players in Darius Johnson-Odom and Jae Crowder to the NBA, so they are going to have to fall on new talent to pick up the slack. They bring in two players off of the Rivals Top 150 Board in Steven Taylor and Jamal Ferguson. Taylor is a Chicago Native, who played for the prestigious Simeon program and will help try and fill the shoes of Crowder’s absence. Ferguson is a lengthy two guard who can light it up from three land. The Eagles are coached by Buzz Williams in his fifth year with the program. Throughout Williams’ tenure, the Eagles have made it to the NCAA Tournament every year. In fact, the Eagles have made it to the tournament every year for the last seven years. 2003 was the Eagles best season as current NBA all-star and champion Dwayne Wade led them to a Final Four. Although they fell short of the championship, it was the teams first trip to the Final Four since the 1977 season. The Eagles were 7th in the nation in assists last season, and impressive stat, dishing the rock for buckets about 17 times per contest.
