UK is the odds-on favorite to win the SEC in 2014-15, and so much so that any real threat to that title would be stunning. They did so last year on the way to the national title game, where they lost to UConn. Never mind losing Julius Randle and James Young; this team is still stacked. Returning to Kentucky are Aaron Harrison (13.7 PPG), Andrew Harrison (10.9 PPG), and Dakari Johnson (5.2 PPG, 3.9 RPG). In a weak basketball conference, they aren’t going to be beat by many. Last year they dropped a few surprising games like Arkansas twice, South Carolina, Louisiana State, and Baylor, but they came through in the end to make the final game of the SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament. Kentucky looks to get right back to where it was a year ago and win that last game of the season.
The Kentucky Wildcats operate under coach John Calipari at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. UK is undoubtedly one of the NCAA’s traditional powerhouses with the most all-time wins, highest winning percentage, most NCAA Tournament appearances with 53 (all in the last 72 years), most Tournament wins with 116, and second to only UCLA with eight national titles. After winning the 2012 title they missed the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in 21 years. When you recruit as many one-and-done players as they do there’s always the risk of that, but it’s remarkable how they bounce back because of their potent recruiting power. Remember, they were right back in the national title game this year. 82 Wildcats have played in the NBA, including Anthony Davis, Tayshaun Prince, John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Rajon Rondo, Patrick Patterson, Dan Issel, Antoine Walker, Pat Riley, Jamal Mashburn, Brandon Knight, Jodie Meeks, and Eric Bledsoe.
