Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The Georgia Institute of Technology Yellow Jackets are set to kick off their 2012-2013 college basketball season.  The Yellow Jackets did not have a great year last year finishing a mere 11-20 and at the bottom of the ACC.  However, the Yellow Jackets have a serious upside stemming from the return of old talent and the coming of new talent.  The Yellow Jackets return leading scorer Glen Rice Jr., who averaged 13 points and 6.7 rebounds last season.  Rice Jr. was the catalyst for a Georgia Tech team that did not have much of a supporting cast.  They did not have any help in the frontcourt and their backcourt was dead awful, with there leading assist man only averaging 2.8 a game.  The Yellow Jackets will need to improve in points per game as well as assists per game this season.  The Yellow Jackets only scored about 60 points per game, that is an ACC low and 319th in the nation.  As far as passing the ball goes, the Yellow Jackets only had 11 assists per game, a pitiful number for an ACC program, ranking 302nd in the nation.  Head coach Brian Gregory looks to fix that problem this year bringing in a great recruiting class. Three of the Rivals Top 150 head to Atlanta, Georgia to join the Yellow Jackets program this season including: forward Robert Carter, forward Marcus Hunt, and guard Chris Bolden.  Carter is known as a prolific scorer and Bolden a great passer, so they should be great additions to the squad.  The Yellow Jackets boast some great NBA players in recent NBA Champion and all-star Chris Bosh, guard Jarrett Jack, forward Thaddeus Young, Iman Shumpert, and Derrick Favors.  Shumpert was one of the great surprises in the NBA last season as he had himself a great year for the New York Knicks.  The Yellow Jackets last made the NCAA Tournament in 2010, but it was the 2004 season that was their best.  In 2004 they shocked the nation and made it all the way to the NCAA Tournament Championship game, but fell short to Uconn.  This season the Yellow Jackets hope to make a run in the tourney again and Gold Coast Tickets does not want you to miss out on the action.  Grab the best seats in the house at the beautiful Alexander Memorial Coliseum or follow your Yellow Jackets on the road right here at Gold Coast.  Gold Coast Tickets has the best selection for your entire 2012-2013 college basketball needs!
