Florida Atlantic Owls

The Florida Atlantic Owls are ready to kick off their 13th season and Gold Coast Tickets is here with the best deals with no service fees! In 1998, The Florida Atlantic Owls announced that they were going to build a college football program from scratch under the wing of head coach Howard Schnellenberger. Schnellenberger did a pretty good job, because in 2000 the team held their first practice, inviting any FAU students to come down a try out.

Just seven years after they were practicing with students, the Owls were not only playing big time opponents like Big 10’s Minnesota, but also taking home wins! 2007 was a breakout year for the Owls as they won the Sun Belt Championship behind current Tennessee Titans backup quarterback Rusty Smith. That year they earned a trip to the 2007 New Orleans Bowl where they defeated the Memphis Tigers. That 8-5 season was a magical won, and they hoped to continue their winning ways into the next season. In 2008 they did just that, finishing 7-6 and receiving an invitation to the Motor City Bowl, where they beat a good Central Michigan Team. Unfortunately, when quarterback Rusty Smith went for the draft, the high-powered offense crumbled, and the 2009, 2010, and 2011 seasons were a result of that.

The Owls have not been back to a bowl game since the 2008 season, but they feel this year is their year. They will operate the 2012 season under first year head coach Carl Pelini at FAU Stadium, which holds just over 30,000 fans. Florida Atlantic will have their hands full as they play a very difficult non-conference schedule. Coming into college football 13 years ago, they now find themselves matching up with SEC powerhouse Georgia and 2012 National Champion Alabama. Gold Coast Tickets does not want you to miss out on the action as the Owls try to beat a #1 school for the first time in history.
