The Duquesne Dukes are ready to tip off their 2012-2013 college basketball season. The Dukes have been members of Division I basketball since the programs inception in 1914. In almost 100 years of Division I basketball the Dukes have only made an NCAA Tournament appearance six times in: 1940, 1952, 1969, 1971, and 1977. Gold Coast Tickets does not want you to miss out on the action as the Duquesne Dukes try and make history and make it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 35 years. Ferry came over from Long Island, where he was a coach since 2002. This is his first major job as a division I coach. Last season the Dukes went 16-15 in the regular season and 7-9 in Atlantic 10 play. It was the first time that the Dukes had been over .500 in a couple of years. Unfortunately, the Dukes were led by senior B.J. Monteiro, but he graduated after the season was over. So, the Dukes will turn to now junior guard T.J. McConnell for leadership. McConnell averaged 11.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in his sophomore season with the Dukes. As a team, Duquesne passed the rock better than most in the nation. They dished the ball 15.3 times per game, which is good for 30th in the nation in the 2011-2012 season. The Dukes will hope to keep that stat up for years to come, and McConnell is a great contributor to it.
The Dukes play their home games at the beautiful CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is here that the Duke faithful hope that the team can make it to an NCAA Tournament this year. Gold Coast Tickets has the best selection for your entire 2012-2013 college basketball needs!
