The Rapids, one of the MLS’ original ten charter clubs, have become a mainstay of MLS teams. They now have their own stadium too, playing out in suburban Commerce City at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. They made the MLS Cup Final in 1997 but wouldn’t return until 2010, when they won their first and only MLS Cup championship. They’ve made the playoffs in three of the last four seasons and appear poised to do so again in 2014.
Their unique maroon-and-blue look goes along with their fellow Denver team the Colorado Avalanche. Drew Moor is the team captain after the former captain was traded to the LA Galaxy. The Rapids’ all time leading scorer is Conor Casey with 50 goals. The Rapids have been playing for nearly two decades; they’ve become a staple of the Denver sports culture and one of the better-known franchises in the MLS. With their recent success, fans are hungry for more this season and to get back to the MLS Cup. Gold Coast Tickets can get you the right tickets to see the Colorado Rapids!
