Oklahoma City Thunder

2013 Result: 60-22 (1st West seed), lost in Conference Semifinals to Memphis

The Thunder are not only one of the best teams in the NBA, they’re also one of the most popular locally and nationally.  Young, exciting, and fun to watch, OKC is here to stay.  It all starts with Kevin Durant (28.1 PPG, 7.9 RPG) and Russell Westbrook (23.2 PPG, 7.4 APG).  Even without James Harden they were able to put together an elite season.  Kevin Martin (14.0 PPG) really could’ve done more with the minutes he was given, but as usual the Thunder played great defense and that made up for it.  Now Martin won’t even be there after signing away in free agency.  Serge Ibaka is no longer as underrated as it seems but he’s a solid slot in at center.  And although Kendrick Perkins has never been known for offensive ability, it still seems inefficient that he got more than 25 minutes per game and just 4.2 PPG, not to mention only 6.0 RPG.  Jeremy Lamb has been impressive since coming over in the Harden deal from Houston.  Nick Collison and Derek Fisher were solid bench options, but depth is something they should be wary of as those two get older and older.  But surely Coach Scott Brooks will figure out how to adjust the defense for it and keep the team a championship contender.

The Oklahoma City Thunder represents Oklahoma City in the Northwest Division and Western Conference of the NBA.  Formerly known as the Seattle Supersonics, they were founded in 1967 and in the 41 years they spent in Seattle, the SuperSonics won one NBA title in 1979. Since moving to Oklahoma City in 2008, the franchise has experienced resurgence in success and popularity. In 2012 they reached the NBA Finals and are expected to win a title within the near future.
