Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Georgia Tech finished the season above .500 at 16-15 but just 6-12 in the ACC including 1-6 against UNC, NC State, Duke, and Miami combined.  The problem with the Yellow Jackets was the offense, ranking 10th in the ACC in points per game.  They only had one player, a freshman, average more than 10 points per game with Marcus Georges-Hunt at 10.8 points per game.  If there is a positive on the roster it’s that they only lose one senior.  But otherwise, offense will have to come from somewhere.  Perhaps 79-rated prospects Travis Jorgenson and Quinton Stephens will contribute in that regard.  The rest of the young roster, notably Robert Carter, Daniel Miller, and Georges-Hunt, is rebound-focused.  GT was 3rd in the ACC in rebounding last season.  But if they can’t keep up to the big boys on the scoreboard fans will have to continue to wait for another Tournament trip.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets operate under Coach Brian Gregory at McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta.  They’ve never won a championship but made it to the title game in 2004 behind B.J. Elder, Jarrett Jack, and Will Bynum.  Overall they’ve made 16 NCAA Tournament appearances, most recently in 2010, but nine of them came in consecutive years between 1985 and 1993.  They have a very up-and-down pattern since that time, making six Tournament appearances but only one pair of consecutive appearances.  36 Georgia Tech players went on to the NBA, including Jon Barry, Chris Bosh, Bynum, Derrick Favors, Jack, Anthony Morrow, Stephon Marbury, Iman Shumpert, and Thaddeus Young.  Watch the next young NBA star at a Georgia Tech basketball game—Gold Coast Tickets can get you in!
