Louisville Cardinals Basketball

The Louisville Cardinals are set to tip off the 2012-2013 college basketball season. The Cardinals are coached by one of the all-time greatest college coaches in Rick Patino. Patino came over from the Boston Celtics in 2000, and made the right move as he has found his home and is loved in Louisville. The Cardinals had a great season last year under Patino's wing. They finished the season 30-10, not playing too well in Big East play, but still earning a #4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. In the tourney the Cardinals did some damage, blowing by the first two rounds to face the #1 seeded Michigan State Spartans in the Sweet 16. The Cardinals basically blew the Spartans out to play the Florida Gators in the Elite 8. This game was much closer, as the Cardinals escaped by four points to make it to their 9th Final Four in program history. In the Final Four they faced rival University of Kentucky to see who is really the best basketball program in the state of Kentucky. Unfortunately, Kentucky's talent was too much for the Cardinals, as they fell by eight points and were sent home. However, this season looks to be bright for Patino's Cardinals. Although the Cardinals lose leading scorer Kyle Kuric to graduation, they return most of there key talent. Big man GoeguiDieng returns for his junior season with the Cardinals and looks to average a double-double this year. Last season he came close averaging 9.4 points and 9.1 rebounds a game, his future looks bright as an NBA player. In addition, the Cardinals return leading assist man in guard Peyton Siva. Siva sets the tempo out there for Patino'soffesnse and he is glad to have him back for his senior season. The Cardinals will also add some fresh meat to the squad as they land two players off of the Rivals Top 150 Board in G Terry Rozier and F Montrezl Harrell. Rozier and Harrell will look to fill in in the absence of the sharpshooting Kuric, and provide some depth.
