At the beginning of November 2012, Wake Forest was sitting pretty with a 5-4 record, needing just one win to become bowl-eligible. However, three straight blowout losses to NC State, Notre Dame, and Vanderbilt cost them a postseason berth. However, there is hope for a bowl in the 2013 season, as 19 starters return. Senior quarterback Tanner Price doesn’t have a great offensive line to work with but still needs to regain 2011 form when he threw for 3,000 yards, 20 touchdowns, and a 60% completion percentage. Price doesn’t run well, and running back Josh Harris struggles to stay healthy, so the running game could be a problem. Leading receiver Michael Campanaro, who caught 79 balls for 763 yards last year, returns but will need much more support from his teammates. The defense is just average, but some guys like cornerback Merrill Noel have shown potential. The good news for Wake Forest is their schedule begins with Presbyterian, Boston College, Louisiana-Monroe, and Army, which should give them a few wins to build off of before getting into the tough ACC schedule. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina at the Wake Forest University. The Demon Deacons are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Wake Forest is currently the smallest school to play in a BCS conference with enrollment just above 7,000 students. The Deacons have won two conference titles since their first season in 1888 and last appeared in a bowl game in 2006. BB&T Field has been the home of the Deacons since 1968. Even after a renovation in 2007 it remains the smallest stadium in both the ACC and all BCS Automatic Qualifying Conferences.
