Lollapalooza Spotlight: Cash Cash

About Cash Cash

Cash Cash is actually three-man crew Jean Paul Makhlouf, Alexander Luke Makhlouf, and Samuel Warren Frisch, formed as an alt rock band in 2008 in Jersey suburbs of New York City.  After releasing their first EP, Cash Cash, and their first album, Take It to the Floor, in late 2008 Cash Cash toured with notable performers, like Tyga, Cobra Starship, and Kevin Rudolf, to gain their own notoriety.  Meanwhile they began transitioning into dance music, a move that proved extremely beneficial to future success.   That winter, they released a cover of Cascada's single "Everytime We Touch", a big hit.  The three were once four but drummer Anthony Villacari parted ways in 2011 due to creative differences. From 2011 to 2012 they toured alone internationally.  Over the next year, remixes of Krewella's "Alive", Capital Cities' "Safe and Sound", and Nicky Romero's "Symphonica" got earned them even higher-profile attention.  Nothing could compare with what would come next though.  On July 15th of last summer they released hit single "Take Me Home" featuring Babe Rexha, which reached #18 on the US Pop Songs chart, #4 on the UK Dance single chart, #5 on the UK Singles chart, #7 on the Australia singles chart.  It received by far the most radio play of any of their songs yet and became a favorite late summer jam for dance fans across the US.
