Lollapalooza Spotlight: Chance The Rapper

Chicago is quickly becoming known as hip-hop’s new promise land, with dozens of talented young artists landing media spotlight and major label deals. Leading the pack is 20-year-old Chance The Rapper and he’ll be performing this Friday at Lollapalooza…

About Chance The Rapper

A little over a year after releasing his debut mixtape, 10 Day, Chancellor Bennett, a.k.a. Chance The Rapper, has become one of rap scene.  Bennett was suspended for 10 days during his senior year at Chicago’s Jones College Prep in 2011, inspiring the name of that first tape.  He continued to produce music over the last two years with other local rappers before releasing the next mixtape, Acid Rap, this April.  The highly successful mixtape, which scored an average score of 86 on Metacritic (which is classified as ‘Universal Acclaim’), featured guests Twista, Childish Gambino, Action Bronson, BJ the Chicago Kid, and more.  Recently he has been a supporting act on tour for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Mac Miller, and Eminem.  His appearance at Lollapalooza this fall is one of his biggest yet, and by far the culmination of his young, budding solo career thus far.
