Chicago's 2013 All-Stars: Wood, Sale, and Crain

Chicago’s 2013 All-Stars: Wood, Sale, and Crain

A year after sending four position players to the All-Star Game, our beloved Chicago teams combine for none this year.  Instead they send three superb pitchers in the Cubs’ Travis Wood and the Sox’ Chris Sale and Jesse Crain.  Sale is the only one who has been there before, and he’s just 24 years old, so youth movement is evident on both sides of town.  Gold Coast Tickets has a great selection of 2013 MLB All-Star Game tickets, so be sure to go cheer on your hometown players when they make the trip to New York next week.

Travis Wood

Position: Starting Pitcher
Age: 26

The Cubs’ front office knew Wood had much potential, but even they must be surprised by his hot first half with a 2.69 ERA and impeccable control.  Wood has recorded a quality start in 17 of 18 starts this year.

Chris Sale

Position: Starting Pitcher

Even just a year and a half after becoming a starter, Sale represents one of the rarest commodities in the big leagues; a young, hard-throwing left handed starter with ace talent.

This setup man has flown under the radar for years but finally makes his All-Star debut during a season for the ages.  His 0.74 ERA currently leads MLB pitchers with at least 30 innings pitched and he has yet to allow a home run this year.
