Bears Sign Tight End Martellus Bennett
The Chicago Bears began the 2013 NFL free agency period by addressing one of their biggest needs – the tight end position. Since trading away Greg Olsen in 2011, the Bears have been unable to field a tight and that can contribute in the passing game. Enter Martellus Bennett. Last season for the Giants, Bennett racked up 55 receptions for 626 yards and 5 touchdowns. If he can reproduce those numbers in Chicago this upcoming year it would be good enough to double the production the Bears received last year at tight end.
In related news, the Bears have reportedly parted ways with Kellen Davis who was last season’s starter at tight end.
