Chicago Bears fire Lovie Smith
After an impressive 7-1 start to season, the Chicago Bears looked to be on the fast track to the playoffs and a legitimate title contender. However the team, plagued by injuries, lost 5 of their next 8 games and finished the season with a final record of 10-6. While most years that should be good enough to get you into the postseason, that was not the case for the Bears this year, and it marks the 5th time missing the playoffs in the last six years. Not even 24 hours after their final game of the season, Bears GM Phil Emery has already started to take steps towards making sure the team does not see the same fate next year. The first of what is sure to be many moves made by Emery before next season was the firing of head coach Lovie Smith, who has spent the last nine season here in Chicago.
