Lollapalooza Spotlight: Miike Snow
Ah Miike Snow, what a breath of fresh air these guys were when they exploded onto the indie pop scene in 08′/09′. Formed in Stockholm in 2007 the band celebrated various successes before actually uniting as a trio and becoming Miike Snow. Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg grew up together in Sweden and had various projects that saw them opening for The Fugees and producing an album for Britney Spears in 2004. While working with Spears the two friends met Andrew Wyatt, and Miike Snow was born. The trio have worked with the likes of Madonna, Kylie Minogue, and as mentioned before Britney Spears with whom they won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording.
Miike Snow has a unique indie-electro sound that I like to compare to Cut Copy or Passion Pit. This type of sound has gained much popularity over the last decade with no signs of stopping. Miike Snow has been touring throughout 2012 making stops at various festivals along the way including Coachella and Ultra Music Festival. Their sophomore album Happy To You was released earlier this year and has seen much success. Be sure to catch Miike Snow Sunday night at Lollapalooza’s Sony Stage.
