Lollapalooza 2012 Festival Line Up
Controversy Leading To Line Up
After much anticipation and speculation the Lollapalooza line up was announced earlier this week. People were especially excited this year as some controversy revealed itself in the months before the actual announcement. Lolla Leaks, a Twitter handle held by an anonymous 22-year-old Chicagoan sprouted in early February promising to leak artists every time the account hit a specific number of followers. The account gained the attention of several national media outlets and even started somewhat of an online feud with Lollapalooza creator Perry Ferrell. The fire created by Lolla Leaks eventually died down. The creator admitted publicly on tumblr that the whole thing was an experiment that went further than he ever expected. None of the artists he listed were never confirmed.
With Lolla Leaks out of the picture people were once again free to speculate, especially when a photo emerged a week ago. The photo of a “memo” combined with creative advertisements throughout the city of Chicago started giving way to more founded predictions. Shortly after the photo emerged the actual line up was announced and revealed that the memo was spot on. So without further ado, here is your 2012 Lollapalooza lineup.
New and Old Faces, Indie, Electronic, and Hometown Favorites
- Red Hot Chili Peppers
- The Black Keys
- Black Sabbath
- Jack White
- Florence + The Machine
- At The Drive In
These headlining acts do a great job of covering music genres across the board and making sure there is something for everyone once the sun starts to set in Grant Park. The Red Hot Chili Peppers return as a headliner for a second time, this isn’t The Black Keys, Bassnectar, Jack Black, or Florence + The Machine’s first time at the festival either.
