McDonald’s All-American High School Game Marches Into Chicago
Over the last 35 years, the McDonald’s All-American Game has showcased some of the biggest basketball talents our country has to offer. The majority of the alumni of this game go on to successful college basketball careers and many of them eventually make a home for themselves in the NBA. The list of NBA Hall of Famers as well as current All-Stars who have been showcased in the McDonald’s All-American Game is incredible and includes the likes of Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Derrick Rose just to name a few. The talent pool this year has not dipped in the slightest as the top 24 prep stars in the country will be represented. As always, the teams will be led by some of the best high school basketball coaches in the nation. This year Gordon Kerkman of Aurora West High School (Illinois) will be coaching the West’s All-Americans while Billy Hicks of Scott County High School (Kentucky) will lead the East. Kerkman and Hicks have combined for five different basketball Hall of Fames and come together for an all time 1535-514 record. With such great coaches leading such bright talents, it’s no wonder the McDonald’s All-American game is the premier high school basketball event year in and year out in the United States. For the 2nd year in a row the McDonald's All-American High School Game will be held at Chicago’s United Center (home of the Chicago Bulls). The girls' All-American game will start at 6PM and will be followed by the boys' All-American game at 8:30PM which will be airing live on ESPN.
