The holiday season is approaching and as we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of finding gifts, let us remember that there are several ways to relax and unwind. Many concerts, theater, and sports events will be coming through Chicago allowing the opportunity to purchase tickets as gifts or spend some quality time with the family. Here is a quick rundown on some events you may want to check out during the holiday season.

Concerts

Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch The Throne Tour, November 30th & December 1st @ United Center

This is sure to make an amazing gift for any young adults in the family. The two hip-hop moguls are bringing a two-night performance to Chicago. It is sure to be a high powered show with some special guests, as well as stunning sound and visuals. Tickets to this concert would make a great stocking stuffer for the more mature members of your family.

Two Door Cinema Club, December 1st @ Vic Theatre

This indie rock trio has gained much popularity over the last two years. Pleasant music that has an electro-pop feel that gets your head bobbing and your fingers tapping along to the beat. The group hails from Ireland and have a made a big splash since breaking the scene in 2007. Expect to hear their name a lot in the coming years.

Demi Lovato, December 3rd @ Rosemont Theatre

This is a more kid friendly alternative to concerts listed above. Disney pop sensation Demi Lovato will be at Rosemont Theatre on December 3rd performing several of her hit songs. This show is appropriate for all ages and would be a great gift for those big Disney fans in your family.

Wilco, December 12th, 13th, 15th, 16th, and 18th @ Various Venues

One of the toughest tickets in town to get, Wilco will be performing on five separate occasions over a week’s time. The alternative rock group is especially popular here in their hometown of Chicago. Although it is a very difficult ticket to get your hands on, Gold Coast Tickets is happy to try and help in anyway that we can. You can view seats for the Civic Opera House performance on the link provided.

Theatre & Special Events

There are several theatrical productions coming through town during the holidays, I could list them all but it would take me days. I have highlighted a few of the staples and most popular shows in Chicago.

A Christmas Carol, Several Dates @ The Goodman Theatre

The classic tale of Scrooge’s transformation during the holidays is a great play for the whole family. A Goodman Theatre staple, A Christmas Carol returns to the stage to mesmerize adults and children alike. The play will be running for the better part of December giving you several opportunities to enjoy the show.

A Christmas Story, Limited Dates @ Chicago Theatre

The great American film now hits the stage as Ralphie and his family warm our hearts and give us a child’s perspective on the Christmas holidays. This is the first production and all our favorite moments like the leg lamp, playground double dog dares, shooting your eye out, and the bunny pajamas will be sure to be featured. The play will only run on December 17th, 23rd, and 24th so don’t miss your chance to see the film come alive on stage.

Shrek! The Musical, Limited Dates @ Rosemont Theatre

This is a great play for the little ones. Shrek The Musical follows the same path as the first film, as our disgruntled ogre friend Shrek goes on a voyage to meet the evil Lord Farquad and gain back the privacy of his land. All of your children’s favorite fairytale characters make appearances as they descend on Shrek’s land and force him to go have a talk with the evil ruler.

Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, Several Dates @ United Center

The circus makes its triumphant return to Chicago as it performs its Fully Loaded Tour. Bring the whole family out to witness acrobatics, juggling, fireworks, and other magnificent tricks as the best performers from all over the world do several shows at the United Center.

WWE Monday Night Raw, December 26th @ Allstate Arena

Wrestling fans can rejoice as WWE brings Raw to the Allstate Arena this Christmas. All your favorite story lines and rivalries will play themselves out live for the world to see. Gold Coast Tickets can put you ringside so you feel like you are practically in the mayhem with your favorite fighters!

Sports

Sadly the Bulls seem like they won’t be playing any games this year. Luckily, the Blackhawks are off to a terrific start and the Bears will attempt to cross a dangerous bridge as they play the rest of the regular season without Jay Cutler. December will be a great month to get out and catch your favorite teams compete live.

Chicago Blackhawks, Several Dates @ United Center

The Blackhawks look very sharp out of the gate and they return to home ice after their annual circus trip. They will surely be hungry for some home wins at the UC. Catch Toews, Kane, Hossa, Keith, and the boys as they continue down the road to the Stanley Cup as the Western Conference favorites.

Chicago Bears, December 4th & 18th @ Soldier Field

A Chicago Bears game in December is as good of a bonding experience you can have with anyone. Tailgating in below freezing temperatures and cheering on Chicago’s favorite team at Soldier Field is an experience like no other. After a slow start we are looking like a force with which to be reckoned. Cutler is out for a few weeks so it is time to see what Caleb Hanie can do for our club.

Illinois Fighting Illini Vs. UNLV Runnin’ Rebels, December 17th @ United Center

At least there will be some basketball at the United Center this December. The Illini will take on UNLV giving all the U of I alumni a chance to check out their team closer to home. This has been a very popular game so be sure to lock your tickets up quickly if you are interested.

Whether it’s sports, theatre, concerts, or other special events we are happy to offer you premium seats to all of the most popular shows in Chicago. The holiday season is the best time of year to share these experiences with loved ones and give the gift of entertainment to those around you.
