Chicago's Top Five Halloween Weekend Events

Chicago’s Top Five Halloween Weekend Events

After two and a half hours of pumpkin carving last night while listening to the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack, I’m officially in the Halloween mood. Never mind that I still haven’t figured out my costume for this year or what I’ll be doing in said costume that night. It doesn’t matter because the Halloween spirit is abound, the apple cider spiced, and the pumpkin seeds are drying out to be toasted (yum)!

Halloween Jack o' Lanterns

The fruits of our labors from last night's carving extravaganza. Not bad, huh?

For those of you like me who have yet to nail down plans for Halloween weekend, take a gander at some of the fun events happening in and around Chicago!

Top Five Halloween Weekend Events

ONE:

The Scream Tour will light up the Arie Crown Theater Friday, October 28 at 7:00PM. It sold out almost immediately, but there are still a couple of seats available on our website. The Scream Tour features multiple artists from the hip-hop, rap, and R&B genres. Acts include Mindless Behavior, Diggy, The New Boys, Jacob Lattimore, Hamilton Park, and OMG Girls.

TWO:

Before the sugar buzz sets in on Sunday 30th, take the kids to the Rosemont Theatre for a Halloween Magic show. The 2pm show is the perfect way to get into the spirit before trick-or-treating that night, and perhaps you’ll learn a trick of your own on how to make some of their candy ‘magically disappear.’

THREE:

Don’t panic, jam band fans! Widespread Panic tickets are still available for next weekend’s shows (October 28, 29, and 30) at the Chicago Theatre and Aragon Ballroom. (Like that Halloween play on words? I warned you I was in the spirit.)

FOUR:

The Chicago Blackhawks have two games, so hockey fans will have double the opportunity to get dressed up and cheer on their team. Need a good costume? Brush up on your Irish jig, grab some plaid shorts and a Hawks jersey, and you can be the dude who riles up the crowd with his sweet moves between periods. (Is it funny to anyone else that Dropkick Murphys “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” has become a Chicago Blackhawks in-game staple?) Either way, the Hawks will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets Saturday October 29, and the Nashville Predators on Halloween night. Both games start at 7:30pm.

FIVE:

Her version of a broomstick is an umbrella, but any woman who can fly through the air sans a jet-pack deserves attention around All Hallow’s Eve. Mary Poppins the Musical is nearing its end at the Cadillac Palace and tickets are very reasonably priced. See it before it’s gone!

I hope you all have a safe and Happy Halloween!
