Bears score big in free agent signings
I feel a sneeze coming on. You know the good kind, the one that feels amazing once you get it out? The one where people around you say "BLESS YOU" and sound strangely impressed with what you've just done? It's like someone sprinkled pepper around the office. The Bears signed Julius Peppers to what is believed to be a 6-year, $72 million contract this afternoon. Get it? Pepper/Peppers...sneezing? Hmm... The defensive end from North Carolina was one of the most highly sought-after free agents on the market. Along with Peppers, the Bears are expected to officially announce two other free agent signings at this evening's news conference at 5PM from Halas Hall. Earlier today, the Bears agreed to a five-year, $17 million deal ($6 million guaranteed) with tight end Brandon Manumaluena and a four-year, $12.5 million deal ($7 million guaranteed) with running back Chester Taylor.
