Wicked returns to its ‘favorite city’ in December, but only for a limited time
Wicked is coming back this December for an eight-week run to perform in what producer, David Stone, says is its “show’s favorite city.”
The show grossed over $200 million in Chicago ticket sales and was seen by over 2.9 million audience members during its 3 1/2 year run in it’s Chi-town. I think it’s safe to say that any city with numbers that high would bring on the love from Mr. Stone, but we’ll take it.
What will be different?
The cast will not be the same as it was for the majority of its run in Chicago. It will consist of some current members of the National tour and some new members that are yet to be determined.
Also changing this time around – venue location. The Oriental Theatre (Ford Center for the Performing Arts) will (presumably) still be occupied by the open-ended Chicago production of “Billy Elliot,” so fans will have to see Glinda and Elphaba at the Cadillac Palace Theatre instead.
You can see it for the first or umpteenth time December 1st through January 23rd, 2010. On sale date TBD.
