Auburn Tigers Football

2013: 14-2 (7-1 SEC); lost BCS National Championship Game to Florida State

The SEC remains king of conferences thanks in large part to Auburn, a team that was unranked as late as October 6 but reeled off huge SEC wins to overcome rival Alabama in the Iron Bowl, beat Missouri in the SEC title game, earning a berth in the national title game.  But they fell to FSU there, marking the first non-SEC champion since Texas in 2005 and the first ACC champion since FSU in 1999.  The season was especially amazing considering how bad Auburn was the year before; a bowl-less 3-9 season cost Gene Chizik his coaching job despite winning a national title in January 2011.  But it didn’t take long for Gus Malzahn to take one of the most talented teams in college football back to greatness.  Nick Marshall passed for nearly 2,000 yards and rushed for 1,000 more as one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the conference.  While Tre Mason (1,816 rushing yards), now a St. Louis Ram, led the #1 rushing attack in the country at 328.3 yards per game, Auburn always has the recruiting talent to make up for it.  Sammie Coates (902 rec yards, 7 touchdowns) should take another step forward in his third season.  The Tigers get a huge advantage from scoring nearly 40 points per game; they should continue that for another year.  Aside from their typically intense SEC schedule, a non-conference road game at Kansas State looms on September 18.  LSU (10/4), South Carolina (10/25), and Texas A&M (11/8) are the biggest home games to look forward to.

The Auburn Tigers operate in the SEC West under head coach Gus Malzahn at Jordan Hare Stadium, which holds just over 87,000 fans.  They have two national titles, 12 conference titles, and 38 bowl appearances all-time.  They have heated rivalries with SEC counterparts Alabama (Iron Bowl), Georgia (Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry), and LSU (Tiger Bowl).  The Tigers have had many famous NFL players throughout the years; however, currently the most notable include: Oakland Raiders quarterback Jason Campbell; Miami Dolphins linebacker, Karlos Dansby; and Carolina Panthers former Heisman Trophy winner, Cam Newton.  The Tigers are back to their BCS ways and Gold Coast Tickets does not want you to miss out on the action!
